About me

My name is Melody and I am a student at Sandbach High School in Sandbach. 

My hobbies include, drama, singing , dancing and rock climbing.

After having the privilege of seeing David Attenborough at Glastonbury in 2019 I have had a love of environmental and ecological projects. 

I am excited to be participating in an eco-expedition to Borneo in 2025.

About my Borneo Expedition

I will be taking part in a 4 week expedition which will include community development work including building schools and community buildings and teaching local children, environmental projects including helping to save turtles by removing plastic from the sea and wildlife conservation helping to grow much needed habitats for orangutans .

 The core objectives of this expedition are to undertake projects in order to:

·        Raise the educational standards of developing communities within a rural district of Borneo

·        Raise the living standards of developing communities, within a rural district of Borneo

·        Assist with ongoing wildlife conservation programs to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.

This expedition is extremely important to me because as well as the direct impact I will have in Borneo, I feel that I will acquire and develop many important life skills either during the trip or as part of managing the fundraising project such as money management, event planning, sales and marketing, project management, communication and engagement, conservation techniques and building techniques.

I am really looking forward to the expedition but also nervous about being away from home for so long and sleeping in a hammock. 

Can you help?

I am self funding this expedition and need to raise £5000 which will include the cost of the expedition itself and funding of materials and resources in Borneo to undertake community projects to aid both the local people and the endangered wildlife and their eco system.

I have a range of fundraising ideas and work has already started.  I have set up a Just Giving page, Easy Fundraising account, name the orangutan prize game, name to turtle prize game, tuck shop and for a donation companies can pay to have their logo on my expedition and fundraising t-shirt to help advertise their business and publicly show their support.
